What Kinds of Things Might I Experience?

How to Tell If You Have a Rash, and What to Do About It

When you go through detox hyperhydrosis, your moist sticky underarms can get irritated when they rub against themselves or your clothing. This kind of common rash is called intertrigo and can cause an angry red welt, itchiness, discomfort or flaking. Sometimes, the protective layer of film that sits on the skin’s surface, called the acid mantle, may be out of whack. Shaving, dermatitis, or yeast can also cause a rash in areas like the armpits.
It’s important to treat a rash, because the run-of-the-mill detox period mentioned above does not include redness or any kind of pain. A rash should never be ignored. The first, and easiest, way to get an intertrigo rash under control is by eliminating the moisture: keep the area dry and exposed to the air as much as possible. Be sure to dry yourself thoroughly after showering, and avoid tight clothing.
This is where a natural deodorant made with powder is your hero — but keep in mind, you want safe powder. That means no talcum powder (which has been associated with a host of health concerns) but rather a powder like arrowroot.
Other Causes of an Underarm Rash

Hi Cindy! Were you using one of our old Level 1 or 2 deodorants? We have now discontinued those, and re-formulated a single baking soda deodorant that is between a Level 2 and Level 3. Your specific body chemistry may not respond well to the increased baking soda content. You should discontinue use of the baking soda deodorant until the rash clears up. Once it does, you can try layering our Pit Primer under the deodorant for extra soothing protection. I used your baking soda formula for 2 years before trying the new zinc formula when it came out. Unfortunately, when I tried to go back after the zinc (because I like the zinc, but it wasn’t quite as effective for me) I got a nasty beet red and bumpy rash every time I tried to use the baking soda one. I waited a month (using only the zinc formula), tried again, and still got the rash. I can’t figure out why. Have you any idea?
